Sharpening and Inventory
Control
Sharpening
JSI’s “Superfinishing” process eliminates
the burr and puts a highly polished edge on your blades
producing the sharpest cutting edge possible. This keen edge
helps reduce the amount of friction that occurs as the web
passes through the blades, which will improve cut quality,
reduce dusting, reduce maintenance cost and improve your
operation. “Superfinishing” is an additional step to a
conventional grinding process and is included in our sharpening
prices.
We also control many other factors that
are important to your slitting operation. When your blades reach
our plant, we inspect them for wear or defects. We maintain the
primary width and secondary angles on all slitters, which also
includes maintaining the original angle profile throughout the
life of the blade. A minimum amount of stock is removed,
yielding more grinds per blade. We maintain a T.I.R (Total
Indicated Run-out) of .003”, an Axial Run-out of .003” and a
Radial Run-out of .003”. All angles are maintained at +/- 30
minutes.

Inventory Control
JSI offers an “Automatic Replacement
Program” that will maintain established inventory levels. We
perform an initial inventory to be sure you have an adequate
supply of blades, and as minimum sizes are reached through the
grinding process, the blades are automatically taken out of
service and replaced with new ones. This will eliminate the need
for you to take inventory or to stock more spare blades.
